ხოლმე

Usually

Level 3Sounds Like kholme

Put ხოლმე after the verb to say something usually happens.

How It Works

Compare:

  • საღამოს წიგნს ვკითხულობ. (I'm reading a book this evening, or I read in the evenings.)
  • საღამოს წიგნს ვკითხულობ ხოლმე (kholme). (I usually read a book in the evening.)

The plain present can already mean a habit. ხოლმე makes it clear that you mean what usually happens.

It often comes with words for times that repeat: დილით (in the morning), ზაფხულში (in summer), შაბათობით (on Saturdays).

A question with ხოლმე asks about habits: სად ისვენებთ ხოლმე? (Where do you usually go on vacation?)

At Level 4 you will also use ხოლმე with the past forms that mean used to, for habits in the past.
