یکی از، بعضی از، یک تعداد
One of and Some of
یکی از takes a singular verb, and بعضی از takes a plural verb for people.
How It Works

The group is plural: یکی از شهرها (one of the cities). A pronoun ending sits on the plural noun: دوستانم is my friends, so یکی از دوستانم is one of my friends.
The verb follows the first part. یکی از دوستانم آمد means one friend came, so the verb is singular. بعضی از دوستانم آمدند means some friends came, so the verb is plural.
When the group is the object, را goes after the whole group: بعضی از کتاب‌ها را خواندم. (I read some of the books.)

Common Mistakes
Putting a singular noun after یکی از.
یکی از دوست من آمد.یکی از دوستانم آمد.The group after از is plural. Use دوستانم or دوستان من.
