Doing and Becoming with کردن and شدن
Many words take both verbs, so learn them in pairs.
How It Works
| Meaning | With کردن (someone does it) | With شدن (it happens) |
|---|---|---|
(My brother became a doctor.) مریض شدم means I got sick. The person who changes is the subject, and there is no را.
Ask yourself who does it. If someone does it to something, use کردن. If the person or thing changes, use شدن. Another word that takes شدن is جور: جور شدن means to get well, as in امیدوارم زود جور شوی.
