ići → išao / išla
The Past of Ići
Ići has past forms išao and išla.
How It Works
The singular participles are išao, išla, išlo; the plural forms are išli, išle, išla. Compare išao sam and išla sam rather than trying to build the past from idem.
The auxiliary identifies person and number; the participle agrees in gender and number. Išli smo can refer to a male or mixed group, and išle smo to a female group.
Ići is imperfective. In past narration it can describe going, travelling or a routine without independently specifying every completed arrival. Prefixed verbs such as doći have their own related forms.
