jer + Clause
Giving a Reason
Jer introduces the reason for a statement or action.
How It Works
Build the reason as a complete clause: Ostajem jer pada kiša. The reason has its own verb and may have a different subject from the main clause.
A noun phrase requires a different construction, such as zbog kiše. Do not put a bare noun after jer when you mean because of the rain.
For this basic pattern, place the reason after the main clause. An integrated following reason clause normally has no comma; punctuation can change when the reason is added as a separate explanation.
