Relative gdje

A Place Described with Gdje

Level 3

Gdje can describe a place with a relative clause.

How It Works

Kuća gdje živim identifies a house through the location of living. A more explicit alternative can use a preposition and koji: kuća u kojoj živim.

The place word in the main clause and the location role in the relative clause work together. If the noun is an object of the embedded verb instead, use an appropriate pronoun: kuća koju prodajem.

Keep location distinct from a destination or a route. Gdje primarily identifies where something happens; other words and prepositional phrases express movement relations more precisely.

That is the café where we meet.
