soler + Infinitive
Soler for Usual Action
Soler + infinitive describes what usually happens or used to happen.
How It Works
Solem sopar aviat says having dinner early is customary for us. The finite form of soler identifies the subject and time, while the infinitive supplies the usual action. No preposition appears between them.
The imperfect is especially useful for an earlier habit: abans solia córrer cada dia. It overlaps with a habitual imperfect of the main verb, as in abans corria cada dia, while making the customary nature more explicit.
Soler is most commonly used in present and imperfect habitual statements. Do not treat it as a command to perform an action or as a completed event by itself. An adverb such as normalment can express a similar idea without a verbal periphrasis. Choose the construction that fits the intended habit rather than adding both unnecessarily.
