on (relatiu)
Place Relative on
Relative on connects a place to an action or situation located there.
How It Works
El poble on visc identifies the village through the place where I live. On represents the location inside the relative clause; the clause describes the preceding place noun. It does not change for gender or number.
Keep the verb's location meaning: la sala on treballem and els carrers on juguen are ordinary examples. For a direct object, use que instead: el poble que visitem. The town is the object of visit, not an omitted in-the-town complement in that sentence.
Avoid using on for every abstract circumstance merely because English says where. A place relative can often be expressed more explicitly with en què or en el qual. Time, manner and other relationships need their own appropriate relative construction.
