Order of no and Weak Pronouns

Level 2

In a negative statement, the ordinary order is no + weak pronoun + finite verb.

How It Works

Place no before the verb: no vinc, no tenim temps. With a weak pronoun, put no before the pronoun as well: no el veig, no m'agrada. No does not change for the subject's person or number.

Keep no before a preverbal pronoun group, including when two pronouns occur together: no m'ho diguis. No does not go between the pronoun and the finite verb. In a compound tense, the pronoun precedes the auxiliary: no l'he vist.

This order also holds when the pronoun is en or hi: no en queda and no hi anirem. The negative word does not change the pronoun's underlying object or place meaning. If an infinitive construction allows a pronoun attached after the infinitive, no still stays before the finite verb: no puc fer-ho.

  2. No hi ha ningú.

    There is nobody there.

  3. No en vull més.

I do not want any more.
