adeu, fins ara, fins demà
Farewells
Choose a farewell that fits when you expect to meet again.
How It Works
Adeu is a general goodbye. Fins ara suggests seeing the person very soon, while fins després means later and fins demà points to tomorrow. Fins aviat leaves the next meeting less precisely specified.
Write adeu without an accent under current standard spelling. In aquests farewell formulas, fins stands directly before the time adverb: fins demà, not fins a demà. Other uses of fins a follow the type of complement.
Bona nit can close a conversation at night or wish someone a good night. Match the phrase to the actual context rather than treating each English goodbye as having one fixed Catalan equivalent.
