Algherese Masculine Articles Lo and Los
Algherese preserves masculine definite lo and los; recognize them as regional article forms.
How It Works
In Algherese, lo and los correspond to masculine singular and plural definite articles that a learner of other varieties commonly meets as el and els. They are living regional forms, not proof that a speaker is using Spanish. Feminine la and les belong to the same gender-and-number system.
This entry isolates article-bearing noun phrases so the contrast stays clear. It does not propose replacing every el in general formal Catalan with lo. The surrounding pronunciation and verbal grammar can also differ in Algherese.
Distinguish the masculine article before a noun from other uses of a written lo, including weak-pronoun forms. Article choice and clitic placement are separate grammatical questions.
