Algherese Article Comparison
Algherese preserves masculine definite lo and los; recognize them as regional article forms.
How It Works
In Algherese, lo and los correspond to masculine singular and plural definite articles that a learner of other varieties commonly meets as el and els. They are living regional forms, not proof that a speaker is using Spanish. Feminine la and les belong to the same gender-and-number system.
Use a regional article comparison to recognize lo/los in front of masculine nouns while preserving the familiar feminine la/les opposition. This is article morphology, not a recommendation to introduce neuter lo into general formal prose. Speech can have further phonetic reductions whose distribution is not captured by simply replacing every written el with lo. The examples deliberately use full article forms and basic noun phrases to keep that distinction visible.
