Agreement With Mixed-Gender Coordination
A shared adjective usually takes plural agreement when it describes coordinated nouns.
How It Works
When an adjective modifies two distinct coordinated nouns, use plural agreement: una camisa i una faldilla blanques. If the nouns differ in gender, the shared adjective normally takes masculine plural: un abric i una camisa blancs.
A shared participle follows the same mixed-gender pattern as a shared adjective: els drets i les llibertats reconeguts uses masculine plural because both heads fall within its scope. The nearest noun's feminine gender does not automatically control the whole modifier. If only the freedoms are recognized, restructure the phrase so that narrower scope is explicit. Agreement cannot compensate for an ambiguous choice of what is being described.
