How It Works

Tota la documentació uses feminine singular; tots els documents uses masculine plural; totes les parts uses feminine plural. A determiner such as la or els commonly follows tot when the meaning is all of an identified set.

With a small numeral, tots dos and totes dues mean both, without an intervening article in the ordinary pattern taught here. The quantifier and numeral agree with the understood noun's gender where their forms vary.

Distinguish this agreeing quantifier from neuter tot meaning everything and from adverbial uses before adjectives or gerunds. Those constructions have their own behavior and should not be corrected by blindly matching a nearby noun. First establish whether tot quantifies this noun phrase at all.
