Questions With li
Verb + li = a yes-or-no question.
How It Works
The word li is a question particle. It is a clitic, so it follows the first word of the sentence, which here is the verb.
| Statement | Question with li |
|---|---|
| Govoriš bosanski. | Govoriš li bosanski? |
| Imate sobu. | Imate li sobu? |
| Znaš gdje je pošta. | Znaš li gdje je pošta? |
| Možeš doći sutra. | Možeš li doći sutra? |
With hoću the pattern is the usual way to offer something: Hoćeš li kafu?
Both da li and li after the verb are standard. The li form often sounds a little more careful, and da li is the everyday way to ask in casual talk.
Do not use both together: Da li govoriš li is wrong.
