Plural -न

Plurals Before Postpositions: -न

Level 2Sounds Like na (bahuvacana)

Before a postposition, a plural noun adds -न, but not right after a number.

How It Works

NounWith a postposition
परिवार (family)परिवारन का
लरिका (child)लरिकन से
घर (house)घरन मा
फिलिम (film)फिलिमन कै

Add -न after the noun. A noun that ends in -आ drops the आ: लरिका gives लरिकन.

Use it before का, से, मा, पर, कै and खातिर: लरिकन खातिर, घरन पर. After a number the noun stays plain: दस दिन मा.

Without a postposition, the plain noun is enough: दुइ लरिका, सब घर. You may add लोग or सब to a people word: लरिका लोग.

Do not mix this up with घरे, where -े means at or to.
