के मारे

Because of: के मारे

Level 4Sounds Like kē mārē

के मारे names the cause of something, often a strong feeling or a hardship.

How It Works

के मारे means "because of" or "out of". It joins a cause to a result, and the cause is usually a feeling or something hard to bear: fear, hunger, cold, shame, heat.

CauseWith के मारेMeaning
डरडर के मारेout of fear
भूखभूख के मारेfrom hunger
ठंडठंड के मारेbecause of the cold
सरमसरम के मारेout of shyness

The cause comes first, and the result follows in an ordinary sentence. A singular noun before के मारे does not change its shape.

Use के मारे when the cause is strong and a little painful. For a plain reason, such as rain or a late train, say काहे से कि with a full clause.
