जवन
Who or Which: जवन
जवन adds a description to a noun: who or which.
How It Works
जवन starts a clause that describes a noun. It is the Awadhi word for "who" or "which" in a description.
| Noun | With जवन |
|---|---|
| ऊ लरिका | जवन फोन पर अहै |
| ऊ मनई | जवन चाय बनावत अहै |
| ऊ किताब | जवन तुम दिहेव |
The clause that follows has its own verb, and it follows the usual rules. जवन itself never changes for gender or number.
Often a pointing word comes later, to say which one is the answer: जवन किताब तुम दिहेव, ऊ हमका बहुतै नीक लागत अहै (the book you gave me, I like it very much). The pair जवन ... ऊ is common.
Do not confuse जवन with के or कउन, which are question words (who? which?). For "whose" use जेकर.
