-ब as a Noun

Naming an Action: -ब

Level 3Sounds Like ba (kriyāvācaka san̄jñā)

The -ब form also names an action, like -ing in English.

How It Works

The dictionary form of a verb ends in -ब. It is also the future for हम. When it sits where a noun would sit, it names the action itself.

VerbAs a noun
बनाउबmaking
पढ़ब-लिखबstudying
तैरबswimming
बचाउबsaving

The -ब noun is the subject of a sentence (रीमेक बनाउब भी एक कला अहै) or the thing someone likes (तैरब हमका बहुतै नीक लागत अहै).

You can tell the noun from the future by the sentence. With हम and an action it is a future (हम पढ़ब, I will read). As the thing being talked about, it is a noun. हम can also be left out of a future: साँझ के बेरा बजार जाब.

Its object comes before it: पइसा बचाउब.
