kim boʻlsa ham
Whoever, Whatever
Question word + boʻlsa ham = -ever, no matter: kim boʻlsa ham (whoever it is), nima boʻlsa ham (whatever happens), qayerda boʻlsa ham (wherever it is).
How It Works
Use this pattern to say that something is true no matter who, what, where or when.
1. With boʻlsa ham
Put a question word first, then boʻlsa ham:
- kim boʻlsa ham (whoever it is), with kim
- nima boʻlsa ham (whatever happens, no matter what), with nima
- qayerda boʻlsa ham (wherever it is)
- qanday boʻlsa ham (one way or another, somehow)
Nima boʻlsa ham, ertaga boraman (Whatever happens, I will go tomorrow).
2. With any verb
The verb boʻlsa can be replaced by another verb in the -sa form, with its person ending, followed by ham: Nima desang ham (whatever you say), Qachon kelsangiz ham (whenever you come). The person ending also goes on boʻlsa when you mean a person: Qayerda boʻlsangiz ham (wherever you are).
3. The order of the words
ham always comes after the -sa form. The main clause follows, usually after a comma.
4. Similar patterns
kim ... -sa, u ... (whoever does it, that person...) has no ham and points to one person in the main clause. kimki is a literary word for whoever. For nobody or nothing, use hech kim / hech narsa.

Any verb can take the place of boʻlsa.
- Qanday boʻlsa ham, bu ishni bugun tugatishimiz kerak.

Common Mistakes
Using an ordinary present verb instead of the -sa form.
Nima deysan ham, fikrimni oʻzgartirmayman.Nima desang ham, fikrimni oʻzgartirmayman. The -ever meaning comes from -sa ham. The verb must be in the -sa form with its person ending: desang ham.
Leaving the person ending off the -sa form when you mean you.
Nima desa ham, fikrimni oʻzgartirmayman.Nima desang ham, fikrimni oʻzgartirmayman. The speaker means whatever you say. desa has no person ending, so it means whatever he or she says. Add the ending for you: desang (or desangiz when polite).
