xaggee
Asking Where
Xaggee combines xag “side/direction” with an interrogative ending; the predicate identifies the place relation.
How It Works
Xaggee contains interrogative ee and the linking pattern also seen in xagga. Halkee and meeshee are related alternatives. Baa/ayaa can follow and combine with a short subject. Because place rather than subject is focused, the verb ordinarily retains full subject agreement.
Joogaa commonly locates living beings without a location preposition. Yaallaa locates situated objects, with preposition choice depending on position. Ku nool yahay describes residence; ka yimaaddaa marks source. Less frequent wh-questions use waa, while verb-free aaway is a separate construction.
The examples contrast presence, residence, destination and source. Nooshahay reflects nool plus tahay. The destination and source relations stay in the predicate: u accompanies heading somewhere with socotaa, and ka identifies where something comes from.
