nimam

Negative Forms of Imeti

Level 2

The present negative of imeti is nimam, nimaš, nima, nimava, nimata, nimamo, nimate, nimajo.

How It Works

The present negative of imeti is nimam, nimaš, nima, nimava, nimata, nimamo, nimate, nimajo. An ordinary possessed object under negation takes the genitive.

Compare imam knjigo with nimam knjige. The first change creates the negative verb, and the second changes the ordinary direct object's case. A subject or a preposition-governed phrase elsewhere in the sentence does not automatically follow that object rule.
