Concession With deși
Although with Deși
Deși introduces a concession: a fact or possibility that contrasts with the main clause.
How It Works
Deși means 'although/even though'. It introduces a concession: something that might lead you to expect a different result.
Indicative: Deși este târziu, încă lucrează. (Although it is late, he/she is still working.) Any suitable indicative tense can follow, including a future presented as expected: Deși va ploua mâine, voi veni.
Conditional: A conditional can also occur when the concession is hypothetical: Deși ar putea pleca, preferă să rămână.
Contrast with chiar dacă: Chiar dacă often emphasizes 'even if', where the condition is left open. Context, rather than the presence of a future tense alone, determines the choice.
No ordinary să connector: In this construction say deși este or deși ar fi, not deși să fie.
Punctuation: Separate the concessive clause from the main clause with a comma in the ordinary patterns shown here.

Word by Word: He came to party, although was tired.
The imperfect 'era' is used to show a continuous state in the past.

Word by Word: Although not I had time, I finished book-the.
The compound perfect (am avut) is used for a completed past fact.
- Voi merge la examen, deși nu am învățat destul.
I will go to the exam, although I haven't studied enough.
Word by Word: I will go to exam-the, although not I have studied enough.
The main clause is in the future, but the concession remains a factual past event.
