How It Works

Negate the event. هیچ‌کس نیامد excludes every relevant person from coming. نیامد is the negative past of آمدن; the vowel-initial spelling must be learned rather than copied from نرفت.

Mark an object when needed. هیچ‌کدام از این کتاب‌ها را نخواندم rejects reading any member of a specific book set. The full object phrase can carry را even though the statement is negative.

Use negative state and possession forms. هیچ خبری نیست uses نیست. هیچ پولی ندارم uses negative داشتن. Do not put a regular نـ directly on است or add a default می‌ to possession.

Keep questions separate. هیچ خبری داری؟ can ask whether there is any news, without asserting nobody or nothing. The ordinary negative-statement pattern does not forbid every positive predicate after the letters هیچ.
