Two words for now: अहिले for this moment and अब for what comes next.

How It Works

अहिले means now, at this moment.

अहिले usually goes with a state or a place: अहिले चिया तयार छ (the tea is ready now), तपाईं अहिले कहाँ हुनुहुन्छ? (where are you now?).

अब looks forward. You say it when you are about to do something or when a new step begins.

Both words usually come near the start of the sentence, right before or after the person.

Like the other time words, they need no postposition when they mean now. Postpositions do appear in words such as अहिलेसम्म (until now).

    अहिले puts the time at now.

  2. तपाईं अहिले कहाँ हुनुहुन्छ?

    Where are you now?

    अब looks ahead to the next step.
