-ैत काल
While Doing Something
-ैत काल means "while doing something".
How It Works
The -ैत form is the same as in the present: जाइत, अबैत, खाइत, करैत, पढ़ैत, बहराइत.
| Phrase | Meaning |
|---|---|
| चलैत काल | while walking |
| खाइत काल | while eating |
| पढ़ैत काल | while reading |
| करैत काल | while doing |
The phrase often starts the sentence. The main verb tells you the tense: चलैत काल मोबाइल जुनि देखू (Don't look at the phone while walking).
The subject of both actions is usually the same person. For different subjects, use जखन ... तखन.
The word काल also means "time" by itself. In -ैत काल it works like "at the time of".
