кој / која / кое / кои
Asking Which One
The question word кој means which. It changes to match its noun: Која книга сакаш? (Which book do you want?)
How It Works
In Question Words you met кој as who. Before a noun, it means which, and it agrees with that noun like an adjective:
- Кој автобус? (Which bus?), masculine
- Која книга? (Which book?), feminine
- Кое куче? (Which dog?), neuter
- Кои јазици? (Which languages?), plural
The word can also stand alone when the noun is clear: Кое е твоето куче? means Which one is your dog? Кои се тие? means Who are they?
With a preposition, the preposition comes first: Во која соба спиеш? (Which room do you sleep in?)
The same words also connect two parts of a sentence, like English who and which. That use is covered in Relative Clauses With Кој.
