Future Tense: ducam, audiam
The future of three conjugations, built on -am and -e-.
How It Works
| Person | ducere | capere | audire |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | ducam | capiam | audiam |
| you | duces | capies | audies |
| he, she | ducet | capiet | audiet |
| we | ducemus | capiemus | audiemus |
| you all | ducetis | capietis | audietis |
| they | ducent | capient | audient |
In the third conjugation one vowel separates the present from the future: ducit means he leads, and ducet means he will lead. Look at that vowel.
Capio and audio keep their i in every future form, as in the present (capiunt, audiunt), while duco has no i at all.
Do not mix the two future patterns. Ducam means I will lead, and amabo means I will love. The family decides which pattern to use.
