bayat
While
Bayat ti + duration places an activity within a named interval.
How It Works
Bayat ti names a duration with a numeral and a linked time noun. It supplies no new actor and does not change the main verb’s aspect. The first two cards give a number of days; the third gives an hour. Each tells how long the stated activity continued.
The numeral links to its noun under the selected following-sound convention: nga precedes vowel-initial aldaw or oras. The main clause keeps its own actor and completed predicate. This duration construction does not require inserting ti before every possible clause or converting every activity into a noun.
The introductory message in the 2022 orthography guide also attests a bayat met a continuing-clause frame for overlap. Met has a context-sensitive discourse contribution. These cards teach the independently witnessed duration construction. Compare sakbay and kalpasan, which place an event before or beyond a reference endpoint; duration places it within an interval.
