kayat + ti + Action
Wanting to Do Something
Kayat + attached actor + ti + actor-focus action expresses wanting to act oneself.
How It Works
In the illustrated shared-actor pattern, kayat carries its actor and ti introduces an action expression without repeating that actor. In Kayatko ti agawid, the speaker wants to go home and would perform the action. The illustrated frame uses actor-focus actions.
Other participants remain expressed as required by the embedded verb. A buying action can retain an iti-marked object. Compare Kayatko ti agawid, “I want to go home,” with Kayatko nga agawid ni Rosa, “I want Rosa to go home.” The second clause names its own performer.
Learn these actor-focus action complements as complete constructions; other voices need their own established frames. Focusing a desired object can change the embedded verb and clause frame. This desire pattern does not determine masapul’s syntax.
