Hundreds and Thousands
narị + number. puku + number.
How It Works
Hundreds and thousands follow the same pattern.
| Say | Meaning |
|---|---|
| narị | hundred |
| narị atọ | three hundred |
| puku | thousand |
| puku abụọ | two thousand |
To add smaller numbers, join with na: narị abụọ na iri ise “two hundred and fifty”. Money amounts use these: naịra narị ise “five hundred naira”. The noun counted comes before the number, as for small numbers: mmadụ narị abụọ “two hundred people”. Hundreds and thousands do not change for one or many.
