ორივე/სამივე
Both and All Three
ორივე means both, and სამივე means all three.
How It Works
| Number | All of them |
|---|---|
| ორი (two) | ორივე (orive) (both) |
| სამი (three) | სამივე (samive) (all three) |
| ოთხი (four) | ოთხივე (all four) |
| ხუთი (five) | ხუთივე (all five) |
The noun stays singular: ორივე ფილმი (both films). With a noun as the subject, the verb is usually singular too: ორივე და ექიმია (both sisters are doctors).
ორივე can stand alone and takes the case the verb needs: ორივე კარგია (both are good), ორივემ გაიცინა (they both laughed).
Compare: ორი ძმა (two brothers) only counts them, while ორივე ძმა (both brothers) means each of the two you are talking about.
