In نام من … است, the verb is است, because it agrees with the word نام.

How It Works

Give your name in a short sentence. نام and اسم both mean name, so use either one.

In نام من احمد است, the subject is نام. It is a thing, so the verb is است. In من فرید استم, the subject is من, so the verb is استم.

Ask someone you respect نام شما چیست؟ Ask a friend اسم تو چیست؟ Use جان when you speak to the person: لیلا جان.
