k / ka + Dative
Toward Someone or Something
K prijatelju means toward or to a friend. Ka is the expanded form used before words beginning with k, g or h, as in ka kući.
How It Works
Use Idem k prijatelju. for movement toward a friend or the friend’s place, as context permits. Dative prijatelju is the same case shape used for a recipient in another construction.
Before k, g and h, the standard expanded form is ka: ka kući, ka gradu, ka hramu. The noun and its modifiers still take dative endings.
K highlights direction or an approach toward a target. It is not a substitute for every destination phrase with u or na. A reference to going into a building can require a different preposition and accusative construction.
