Neuter Subject and Object Forms
Within the same number, neuter nouns have identical nominative and accusative forms. Selo can be a subject or a direct object.
How It Works
Compare Selo je malo. with Vidim selo. The first selo is a subject in the nominative; the second is a direct object in the accusative. The sentence structure supplies the difference.
The same is true in the plural: Sela su mala. and Vidim sela. An adjective in these neuter nominative or accusative roles likewise has the corresponding shared form.
Other cases do change the noun. A genitive such as sela or a locative such as selu cannot be identified by appearance alone without knowing number and context. The nominative/accusative identity is not a claim that neuter nouns never inflect.
