Common Neuter Nouns
Selo, more and pitanje are neuter nouns. Their modifiers use neuter agreement, such as ovo and malo.
How It Works
Use neuter singular agreement with selo, more and pitanje: ovo selo, mirno more, dobro pitanje. Neuter gender is a grammatical category, not a measure of an object’s size or importance.
Within a given number, a neuter noun’s nominative and accusative forms are identical. This later makes the same form possible as either subject or direct object; the rest of the sentence supplies its role.
Learn exceptions to the ending clue. Standard Croatian uses masculine ovaj auto but neuter ovo kino. Regional usage may differ, while the course examples keep standard agreement.
