m'agrada
Liking Chunk with M'agrada
With agradar, the liked thing is the subject and the person is an indirect object.
How It Works
M'agrada el cafè literally presents coffee as pleasing to me. Use agrada with a singular noun or an infinitive, and agraden with a plural noun: m'agraden les pomes. The verb agrees with what is liked, not with the person who likes it.
The person forms are em, et, li, ens, us and els; em becomes m' before agrada. Thus ens agrada llegir means we like reading, while els agrada llegir means they like reading. Li can mean to him or to her.
An explicit phrase can clarify or contrast the person: a la Maria li agrada el te. Put no before the pronoun to negate the statement: no m'agrada. Ask t'agrada? with ordinary question intonation.
