me te ga je nas vas ih
Short Object Pronouns
Short object pronouns are me, te, ga, je, nas, vas and ih; they do not start a sentence in the standard.
How It Works
| English | Short form |
|---|---|
| me | me |
| you (one friend) | te |
| him, it | ga |
| her, it | je |
| us | nas |
| you (polite or plural) | vas |
| them | ih |
Use these short forms by default. The long forms (mene, tebe, njega, nju, nas, vas, njih) are used for emphasis or after prepositions: Volim tebe, ne njega.
The short forms are clitics. They lean on the word before them, so they cannot be the first word of a sentence. Beware: je is both her and is. The meaning is clear from the sentence.
