Question Words
The question word comes first, and the rest of the sentence follows.
How It Works
A question word opens the sentence, and a verb usually follows right after it.
| Word | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| ko | who | Ko je to? |
| šta | what | Šta radiš? |
| gdje | where | Gdje živiš? |
| kada | when | Kada dolaziš? |
| zašto | why | Zašto kasniš? |
| kako | how | Kako si? |
| koliko | how much, how many | Koliko košta? |
Bosnian uses šta for "what" in everyday speech and writing. Kada has a short form, kad, which people use all the time.
Unlike a yes-or-no question, you do not need Da li here. The question word already marks the sentence as a question.
