u vezi s
In Connection with
Fixed phrases for formal talk.
How It Works
| phrase | meaning | case |
|---|---|---|
| u vezi s | regarding | instrumental |
| u skladu s | in line with | instrumental |
| s obzirom na | considering | accusative |
Examples: Pišem u vezi s ugovorom. Radimo u skladu s planom. S obzirom na kišu, sastanak je u sali.
Before words that start with s, š, z or ž, the little word becomes sa: u vezi sa sastankom, u skladu sa zakonom. Sa is also used in some other places, such as sa mnom.
These phrases sound formal and a bit official. In friendly talk, speakers use o or oko instead: Zovem te oko sastanka.
Because they are fixed phrases, do not change the first words. Only the noun at the end changes case.
