kod kuće / kući
At Home and Home
Three short phrases cover home: kod kuće, kući and od kuće.
How It Works
| Question | Phrase | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Where are you? | kod kuće | Ja sam kod kuće. |
| Where to? | kući | Idem kući. |
| From where? | od kuće | Dolazim od kuće. |
Kuća means house. Kod kuće is the genitive after kod (at the place of). Kući is a fixed word and you cannot swap it for another noun.
For other places, the pattern is different. You use idem u školu (going to school) and u školi sam (I am at school).
Doma also means at home, as in Ja sam doma. It is common in speech, and kod kuće is a safe choice for learners.
