Dva velika grada and tri velike kuće follow one pattern, and pet velikih gradova follows another.
How It Works
| Gender | 2, 3, 4 | 5 and up |
|---|---|---|
| masculine | dva velika grada | pet velikih gradova |
| feminine | tri velike kuće | pet velikih kuća |
| neuter | dva velika sela | pet velikih sela |
The adjective after dva, tri and četiri ends in -a for masculine and neuter and in -e for feminine. The noun shows the genitive singular.
For feminine, dvije replaces dva: dvije lijepe sestre.
From five up, numbers use the genitive plural for both words. The adjective ends in -ih: pet starih knjiga.
The same endings follow bigger numbers that end in two, three or four, such as dvadeset dva velika grada. The teens 12, 13 and 14 are the exception: dvanaest velikih gradova.
