дзякуючы + Dative
Thanks to with Дзякуючы
Дзякуючы табе, я здаў экзамен. (Thanks to you, I passed the exam.) The noun or pronoun after дзякуючы is in the dative.
How It Works
Dative. Ask чаму? or каму?:
- pronouns: дзякуючы мне, табе, яму, ёй, нам, вам, ім
- feminine -а becomes -е, often with a consonant change (дапамога → дзякуючы дапамозе), or -ы after ц, ж, ш, ч, р (праца → дзякуючы працы). See dative singular endings.
- masculine and neuter take -у/-ю: дзякуючы надвор'ю, дзякуючы доктару
Mostly good results. Дзякуючы keeps a trace of thanks, so it suits a cause you are glad about or a neutral one: Мы добра адпачылі дзякуючы цёпламу надвор'ю. For a cause of something bad, use з-за + genitive or праз + accusative: З-за дажджу матч адмянілі. (The match was cancelled because of the rain.)
With a clause: дзякуючы таму, што: Дзякуючы таму што мы выйшлі рана, мы не спазніліся. (Because we left early, we were not late.) Таму is the dative of тое. At the start of a sentence the conjunction stays whole and the comma follows the clause. After the main clause, one comma goes before што or before дзякуючы: Мы не спазніліся дзякуючы таму, што выйшлі рана.
Commas. A phrase with дзякуючы at the start of a sentence is often followed by a comma, especially when it is long: Дзякуючы дапамозе сяброў, мы паспелі. Inside or at the end of a sentence it usually has none.
Also a verb form. Дзякуючы is also the adverbial participle of дзякаваць and then means thanking: Ён развітаўся, дзякуючы ўсім за дапамогу. (He said goodbye, thanking everyone for their help.)

Common Mistakes
Using the genitive after дзякуючы.
Дзякуючы дапамогі сяброў, мы паспелі.Дзякуючы дапамозе сяброў, мы паспелі.Дзякуючы takes the dative. The dative of дапамога is дапамозе, with г changing to з.
Using дзякуючы for a cause of something bad.
Дзякуючы дажджу матч адмянілі.З-за дажджу матч адмянілі.The grammar is fine, but дзякуючы sounds as if the rain did something good, which is not what you mean. For a cause of something bad, use з-за or праз.
Putting тое in the wrong case before a clause.
Дзякуючы таго што мы выйшлі рана, мы не спазніліся.Дзякуючы таму што мы выйшлі рана, мы не спазніліся.Тое must also be in the dative after дзякуючы: таму.
