-হে
Only and Indeed: -হে
-হে points at one word: তাই হোৱাইট মীটহে খায় “she eats only white meat”.
How It Works
The ending -হে is written as part of the word, like -ও. It makes the word stand out.
| Sentence | Meaning |
|---|---|
| তাই হোৱাইট মীটহে খায় | she eats only white meat |
| নাই, মই নহয়, তুমিহে! | no, not me, it is you! |
| সেইডাল সাপ নহয়। এটুকুৰা ৰছীহে। | that is not a snake. It is only a piece of rope. |
| এইবোৰ ছুইডেনতহে হয় | these things only happen in Sweden |
If the word already has an ending, -হে goes after it: ছুইডেনতহে “only in Sweden”.
Which English word fits depends on the sentence. “Only” fits when one thing is picked out from others. “It is … that” or “indeed” fits when you say what is really true, often after something else was expected.
