Fyddi di? / Fydda i ddim
Future Questions and Negatives of Bod
Questions: Fyddi di yno? (Will you be there?). Negatives: Fydda i ddim yn gweithio (I won't be working).
How It Works
Questions
- Fydda i? Will I?
- Fyddi di? Will you?
- Fydd e / o / hi? Will he / she / it?
- Fyddwn ni? Will we?
- Fyddwch chi? Will you?
- Fyddan nhw? Will they?
Answers repeat the verb in the answering person. No is na + the softened verb:
- Fyddi di yno? → Bydda. / Na fydda.
- Fydd hi'n braf? → Bydd. / Na fydd.
- Fyddwch chi yno? → Byddwn. / Na fyddwn. (we), or Bydda. / Na fydda. (I)
- Fyddan nhw'n dod? → Byddan. / Na fyddan.
Negatives add ddim after the subject: Fydda i ddim, Fyddi di ddim, Fydd e ddim, Fyddwn ni ddim, Fyddwch chi ddim, Fyddan nhw ddim.
There won't be. Fydd dim ysgol yfory (There'll be no school tomorrow).
Never. Byth replaces ddim: Fydda i byth yn anghofio (I'll never forget). See Never: Erioed and Byth.
Short verbs soften in questions and negatives in the same way; see Questions and Negatives of Short Verbs. For answers in other tenses, see Echo Answers in Other Tenses.

Common Mistakes
Not softening after na.

Answering with a present-tense word.
Fyddi di yno? Ydw.Fyddi di yno? Bydda.Ydw answers the present tense. A future question is answered with the future: Bydda or Na fydda.
