modomiki
Since, Given That
Modomiki + fact + ekan, then a conclusion: Modomiki hammangiz rozi ekansiz, ishni boshlaymiz (Since you all agree, we'll start the work).
How It Works
The usual shape. Start with modomiki, state the fact, and close it with ekan plus a personal ending. After a verb, use a form such as -gan or -(a)r before ekan. Then put a comma and the main clause:
- Modomiki rozi ekansiz, ... (since you agree ...)
- Modomiki kelgan ekansiz, ... (since you have come ...)
- Modomiki haqiqatni bilar ekan, ... (given that he knows the truth ...)
No comma after modomiki. Like agar and mabodo, modomiki takes no comma of its own. The comma goes at the end of its clause.
What the main clause does. It draws the conclusion: a decision (ishni boshlaymiz, we'll start the work), a request (oxiriga yetkaz, see it through) or a question (nega jim turibdi?, why is he keeping quiet?).
Not a real if. The fact after modomiki is already true. For something that may or may not happen, use agar with -sa. In everyday speech, the same idea is often just shunday ekan (that being so), and a plain reason takes chunki.
