-ga qarshi
Against
-ga qarshi means against. The noun takes -ga: kasallikka qarshi (against the illness). Add a personal ending to say who is against it: Men bunga qarshiman (I'm against this).
How It Works
Qarshi means against or opposed to. The thing you are against takes the -ga case:
- kasallikka qarshi (against the illness)
- shamolga qarshi (against the wind)
- raqibga qarshi (against the opponent)
Being against something. Qarshi can be the predicate of a sentence. It then takes the personal endings of -man, -san, -miz and -siz: Men bu rejaga qarshiman (I'm against this plan). Negate it with emas: Men qarshi emasman (I don't mind).
Do you mind? A polite way to ask permission is Qarshi emasmisiz? (Would you mind?): Derazani ochsam, qarshi emasmisiz? (Do you mind if I open the window?)
To object. -ga qarshi chiqmoq means to oppose or to object to: Hamma bu qarorga qarshi chiqdi (Everyone objected to this decision).
Opposite, facing. For a place, use qarshisida with the possessor in -ning: Maktab uyimizning qarshisida (The school is opposite our house). This works like the other place words in koʻmakchi ot + kelishik.

Common Mistakes
Putting the opposed thing in -ni instead of -ga.
Men bu rejani qarshiman.Men bu rejaga qarshiman.Qarshi needs the -ga case. English against takes a direct object, but Uzbek qarshi does not.
Using -ga qarshi for a place (meant: the school is opposite our house).
Maktab uyimizga qarshi.Maktab uyimizning qarshisida.-ga qarshi means against, so the first sentence does not give the school's location. For a place, use -ning + qarshisida.
