How It Works

Some words simply add ات, while others alter their ending. تجربہ becomes تجربات, with the final ہ removed. These are established word forms, not a rule to apply to every noun.

The ending occurs with words of different origins and genders in Urdu. سوالات takes masculine agreement; مشکلات takes feminine agreement. Follow the Urdu word’s usage rather than importing an Arabic gender rule.

Before a postposition, an already plural form usually stays unchanged: سوالات کے and تجربات سے. A native-style form may coexist, but its register or sense can differ. Look up the pair rather than treating all alternatives as identical.

    Your questions are important.

    سوالات is an established masculine plural.

  2. یہ تجربات کامیاب رہے۔

    These experiments were successful.

    تجربہ loses its final ہ in تجربات; رہے is masculine plural.

  3. پچھلے ماہ حالات بہتر تھے۔

    Conditions were better last month.

    حالات has a conventional plural use for conditions or circumstances.

  4. کچھ مشکلات ابھی باقی تھیں۔

    Some difficulties still remained.

    مشکلات takes feminine agreement, shown by تھیں.
