کچھ

An Unspecified Amount or Thing

Level 1

Use context to decide whether کچھ names an amount, a set of things or an unspecified thing.

How It Works

کچھ پانی پیجیے asks someone respectfully to drink some water. It does not give an exact amount.

کچھ لوگ باہر ہیں means some people are outside. The plural noun tells you this is a group.

In بیگ میں کچھ ہے, کچھ means something. The sentence does not name the thing in the bag.

Use a counting word when the exact number matters.

Examples (4)

  3. بیگ میں کچھ ہے۔

There is something in the bag.

  4. کچھ چابیاں بیگ میں ہیں۔

Some keys are in the bag.

The plural noun and ہیں show that more than one key is meant.
