Level 4

saddex ka mid ah buugaagta means “three of the books.”

How It Works

In modifying phrases, ah is the reduced copula, shared across gender and number. Write ka mid ah as three words.

The set can follow ka mid ah or precede it. Both orders occur in the supplied source. Main predicates instead use agreeing copular forms, including ka mid ahay, ka mid tahay, ka mid yahay.

When ah ends an unfocused subject phrase, it takes subject marking as ahi. Direct numeral-plus-noun counting is a different construction: its counting-form requirement does not replace the definite set noun in “two of the pictures.”

A selected quantity precedes the definite set.

  2. qof dadka ka mid ah

  3. Cumar wuxuu ka mid yahay macallimiinta.
